It’s been a wonderful year filled with exciting first steps for Rouge Church. We’re so glad that many of you played a part and that people are still joining the journey. This year, at our Christmas party, there was an attendee who shared a touching poem by John Donohue,
“May this house shelter your life when you come in here. May the weight of the world fall from your shoulders. May your heart be tranquil here, blessed by peace the world cannot give…”
He continued on to say that this is what he felt in the presence of the Rouge family.
We have already touched lives even in such small beginnings. And we are looking forward to the future as we continue to touch lives for the coming years and generations.
Here are a few things that took place this year:
In February, God first began to reveal the vision for a new church here in Dearborn. Since then, we have had 19 people come through our doors from all across the world (just to list a few places: from Germany, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, Syria, India, Brazil and the U.S.A.).
In May, we started a Small Group, with the intent to build community together and begin discipling one another.
In November, we felt God telling us to utilize our present resources and people to start what we would come to call a House Campus (a church service on a smaller scale and located in a local home), including a time of worship, prayer, and teaching.
In December, we had a toy drive and raised gifts for 22 kids in our area. We also hosted a Christmas party where people from many faith backgrounds joined to celebrate Christmas and have a dinner with one another.
We look back on 2017 with incredible gratitude to everyone that played a part in making sure all of this happened. But we also look forward to 2018 with great expectation and believe the best is yet to come!
